On Sunday the 29th of July 2018, the small island of Lombok was hit by a M6.4 earthquake, causing a number of deaths and large-scale damage.
At the time, HWCI was on Lombok monitoring and evaluating other projects when the first earthquake hit, witnessing first-hand the damage Lombok sustained. One week later, a larger M6.9 earthquake devastated the already damaged island. It killed an estimated 300 people, caused major landslides and left many homeless. On the 9th of August, another giant shock-wave tore through the island; killing more people, destroying property and leaving thousands homeless and injured. HWCI are committed to helping the people of Lombok and have medical and logistical teams on the ground in Lombok directly helping victims. We have established a dedicated earthquake fund, where 100% of funds donated will go directly to purchasing supplies to assist the affected people.
We can’t do this on our own and are asking for your assistance in donating money to help purchase tents, blankets, food and medical supplies.
Donations received will assist immediately, and have maximum impact on those injured and homeless.
