On Sunday the 29th of July 2018, the small island of Lombok suffered a M6.4 earthquake, causing a number of deaths and large-scale damage.
One week later on Sunday the 5th of August, 2018, a larger M6.9 earthquake killed an estimated 300 people and caused major landslides which hampered emergency efforts.
On Thursday the 9th of August, 2018, a third major earthquake struck the island, adding more devastation to an already suffering community.
It is estimated that around 270,000 people were made homeless or displaced, and that 68,000 homes were damaged or destroyed as a result of the earthquakes that lifted the island it struck by as much as 25 centimetres1
